Circumcision is the surgical removal of the foreskin. This typically takes place under general anaesthetic. After the removal of the foreskin, absorbable sutures are placed, and these sutures would typically dissolve over the next 7-14 days and just fall out on their own. This is not typically a painful procedure and recovery is quick.

Sexual intercourse should be withheld for six weeks following a circumcision.
